In short

Cobry, a cloud technology consultancy, built Cobry Academy on the platform behind Skills Velocity to train large teams on G Suite (now Google Workspace) affordably. Courses combine text, video and quizzes, and a real-time manager dashboard identifies people who struggle with the technology or resist change, improving satisfaction and adoption.

The client

Cobry helps organisations make the most of cloud technology, with a focus on G Suite (now Google Workspace) because it best supports a cloud-based IT environment.

A move to G Suite involves technical work such as data migration, but also real change management. Organisations with fewer than 20 staff typically need one to two days of training to bring most of the team up to speed. Larger organisations need far more planning to ensure adoption and satisfaction. Face-to-face training works best, but few large organisations can afford it for everyone.

What problem did Cobry need to solve?

Cobry's deployments showed a clear need for affordable training that didn't depend on mass face-to-face sessions. Its market research found online G Suite training products, but all of them were built only for end users. None combined end-user learning with reporting for managers, who needed oversight to spot people requiring extra help.

Why did Cobry choose this platform?

Cobry chose our platform to build Cobry Academy because it could:

  • combine text, video and quizzes in one course
  • provide real-time reporting and metrics, which competitors lacked
  • give managers an easy-to-use dashboard to monitor their team's learning

Once courses are assigned, managers use the dashboard to find two groups early: people who struggle with the technology, and people who resist the change. Those two groups cause most change-management problems, so spotting them early allows proactive support.

What were the results?

  • higher satisfaction and adoption across the user base, supporting overall project success
  • a cost-effective way to train large teams on G Suite, whether migrating or already using it
  • support for migrations from traditional IT systems as well as existing G Suite users
