What was the workshop about?

Organisations face pressure to adopt AI, close skills gaps and manage generational change, often with limited data, reporting or quality checks. Common problems include slow time to productivity, high staff turnover and uncertainty about where to start with AI workforce training and agentic AI.

This workshop focused on what works in practice: better onboarding, compliance, quality control, reporting and efficiency, without over-complicated or overpriced technology. We promised no invented company names and no inflated metrics, and to be candid about what worked, what it cost and what we learned.

Who was it for?

  • manufacturing and engineering leaders
  • operations managers and plant supervisors
  • L&D and HR leaders
  • compliance managers and quality teams
  • SME owners and enterprise transformation teams
  • anyone working on deskless training, quality checks, onboarding or AI adoption

The seven case study themes

Some of these projects have been running since 2019, across manufacturing, engineering, defence, renewables, oil and gas, and chemicals:

  1. AI and vision systems for quality control
  2. AR and VR for safer practical training
  3. 360 video for faster knowledge transfer
  4. BI dashboards for operational reporting
  5. LMS software for onboarding and compliance
  6. sensors and process improvements for legacy machinery
  7. skills velocity for reducing churn and time to productivity
